Volunteer

Volunteers are a vital part of life here at PAWS. They provide undivided attention to the animals, help staff around the office and more. We are still looking for numerous volunteers to join our team, and there are many ways you can volunteer:

Become a "Lunch Buddy": Want to love on a shelter pet, but don't have a lot of time? Looking for a way to fit in some exercise or simply take your mind off from work? The "Lunch Buddy Program" is right for you! This program is great for those who have busy schedules, but still want to give time to the shelter dogs. "Lunch Buddies" select 1-2 days during the week to walk and spend time with a shelter dog for 30 minutes, whether during your lunch break, or just a day that you can fit in 30 minutes at the shelter. Temporary Volunteer/Service Hours: Looking for volunteer hours for a class, club/organization, TN Promise/Achieves or other temporary opportunities? Interested in scheduling a group service project? Please contact the shelter and ask for the volunteer coordinator, to schedule these hours and see if work is available at this time.

Court-ordered Community Service: If you have been ordered to complete service hours by the courts, please contact the shelter at 615-898-7740 (may need to leave a message) for more info on how to begin completing your hours with PAWS. Hours completed in the general volunteer programs do not count towards court-ordered needs.*

Please note: Generally, those under 18 years of age must be accompanied by their *parent(s) or *legal guardian(s) at all times when volunteering. A parent of a friend, grandparent or older sibling would not be acceptable as accompaniment when volunteering at PAWS, unless they are guardians appointed by the courts. *For temporary volunteer hours, another adult may be acceptable as a guardian when completing hours. Please contact the shelter for more info!

If interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities, please proceed by emailing: paws@rutherfordcountytn.gov or contacting the volunteer coordinator at 615-898-7740 (may need to leave a brief message).

We look forward to having you volunteer with us!
